NSSA Sports Jamboree

Eighteen children from Northampton School Sports Academy in the Eastern District of Northampton were selected to take part in a sports jamboree in Malta in June 2009. In all the activities the children were mixed allowing them to meet new friends, learning about their cultural similarities and differences.

They also developed sporting skills together including football, swimming, athletics and tag rugby. The children also took part in a fun run which was organised as part of an Olympics celebration on the island.

Cultural activities included visits to Valetta, the island of Gozo, a fishing village and the ancient capital of M’dina. At the final cultural evening, the children and leaders from Malta were invited to join the group back in Northampton during National School Sports Week next year.

‘The teachers, leaders and children would like to thank The Wilson Foundation most sincerely for their financial support of this project without which the ‘trip of a lifetime’ wouldn’t have happened’.
