Joseph Hadden's Story
In July 2009 Joseph took part in a month long expedition to southern Peru. He had to raise in excess of £3,500 and The Wilson Foundation gladly donated £200 towards his costs.
Whilst he was there they completed two treks, one to Machu Picchu and another shorter, but steeper ascent of El Misti Volcano. Due to the outbreak of Swine Flu in England, the group were unable to complete an originally planned project helping at a local school.
Instead they worked at a newly built community library on an island on Lake Titikaka, where they painted the walls and got to know the locals through teaching and sports matches.
‘ The trip helped me to grow and the responsibility game me more confidence and helped me to appreciate the planning and communication it requires to succeed as a team...we saw some amazing sights, met some wonderful people and it was a life changing experience’
